Sick!

I'm sick of
  • being sick. Stupid runny nose, stupid cough, stupid temperature.
  • having to look after children when I'm sick. Especially a sick child.
  • not having any inspiration. (Anyone who leaves a comment saying I don't have to post every day will get virtually punched in the mouth. You have been warned.)
  • not being funny. I can do funny, dammit, just not when I have drip-nose.
  • not sleeping. Did I mention the sick kid? (I think the other one is catching it, too.)
  • having to be responsible (walking to school, making sure everyone is fed, changing fucking crappy nappies, wiping fucking snotty noses, inserting fucking thermometers into various fucking orifices).
You get the gist.

  2. I'm sorry. Doesn't sound like any fun at all. Take care - or even better, get *someone else* to take care of you...

  3. Didn't you hear? Mums are not allowed to be sick.....hope you feel better soon x

  4. I hate having to look after the children when I'm sick. Once when I was so ill I was unable to stand upright husband took a day off work to look after the children. Even then he lost it by bathtime and had me helping. Hope you get better soon. You don't have to post every... oops nearly got virtually punched then. Maybe it would help my baby arrive.

  5. I'm sick of having a cough that only comes on full force when Oscar is finally in bed and I'm trying to get some sleep.

I'm sick of the cold, even though I usually love winter. I think I've had it with winter. And it's only December.

I'm sick of the holiday pressure. I'm such a scrooge.

  6. You know you don't have to post everyday.

  7. I'm getting the vibe you're a tad pissed off! You should've got man-flu instead of mum-flu...would've bought you a week in bed with the remote control and a pile of Top Gear mags. Not only that, the other half would've been up & down the stairs all day supplying you with a steady stream of Lemsips, soup and sympathetic mutterings...now you know for next time you decide to get sick...

ps. hope you feel better soon x

(Hope you feel better and get some relief from this nightmare soon! Can't Bumba babysit?)

  12. I think you need to do a ritual sacrifice of Bumba to appease the gods into making you well again.

  17. I'd offer to take the kids for you even tho they are sick and bring you home made chicken noodle soup...but I live too far away so it would be cold by then. Do your kids fold into suitcases?

I'm all for the multiple warm drinks. I love blueberry tea, makes you warm all over.

I too am miserable when sick and usually end up locking myself in a room or making them all nap even if they don't want too. God bless movies and DVD players.

  23. Honey- Some days you have to admit defeat and just bring everyone to bed with you.
I hope all is better soon, and that includes YOU!

    ReplyDelete
  24. But you know, you really don't have to do a daily post.... *ducks*

Hope a healthy equilibrium is soon restored!

  25. Wow. Swearing. And violence. And commenter abuse.

    Cool.

Hope you're on your feet soon. And that Babes takes a little more of the load in the meantime.

(Last Christmas, all of us bar the then nearly 5yo went down with gastric flu. We thought the little b*gger was suffering most of all and he got to ride in the pram all the way to the doctors. He sent three of us to bed (HA!) and told him that he had absolutely nothing wrong with him. He was most annoyed)

  26. @Ms. Moon - Thank you. We're much better today. And I did plonk them all down on the sofa with me to watch the BBC's "Life." Educationally sound and everything!

@The Dotterel - *waits until you sit back up*
    *punches you anyway*

@dadwhowrites - If I ever need a blurb for this blog, I'm so asking you if I can use that.
Babes has been lovely. Even worked from home on Monday. It's just we can't really afford for him to get fired, so he was allowed to go back to work on Tuesday.

  28. I'm late to reading this. Glad you're feeling better. You and your readers are hilarious. I enjoy reading it all but never feel like I have much interesting to say.

  29. When did you start saying "fucking" so much!?! It's amazing and I like it. It sounds good coming from you.

We have just recovered from what felt like the fucking flu. We are all still barking like seals ourselves.
