- ... can you believe that I forgot to mention, in my description of my Monday from hell, that throughout the car journeys and walks to and from the car park it was snowing and raining heavily, with a gusty wind? Okay, I will let go of that one now.
- I need something more in my life just now. Tonight, I was deliriously happy because Babes was coming home early so that I could take his new car in to get winter tyres. I was skipping and jumping because I would get half an hour in the garage waiting room to read my book - on my own, in peace. Yeah. Sad.
They were done after about twenty minutes, and I complained to the guy at the desk that they were faster than they had said. I don't think they often get complaints about that. - I was very happy today because Marie wanted cuddles. Lots of them. From me! Turns out she has a fever. Dammit. But I will enjoy it while it lasts. And I will doubly appreciate my short breather at the garage, because this means Friday creche is cancelled - again.
- My Reader has 137 posts in it. For all I know, Xbox's baby may be here already. But I had a temperature last night - again - so I have to go to bed early. Tomorrow is the dressed rehearsal for our choir's big concert on Saturday and I will not, cannot, must not miss it.
- I have two secrets which I have hesitated to reveal on this blog, because I'm afraid a lot of readers will turn against me. One of the them is that I really didn't like the Harry Potter books or The Da Vinci Code. (I'm an intellectual snob.) The other is that I have two cats and I don't like them either. (I have a dirt phobia which extends to all pets.) Now you know the worst about me, you can either unsubscribe or tell me: Stieg Larsson - should I?

Nobody's meant to like the DV Code and intellectuals sneer at harry p.
ReplyDeleteI have two dogs, one used to be my mothers, the other was our hairy baby once long ago and I wish them both dead...
I'm with Jo. I have four dogs and I hate all of them.
ReplyDeleteStieg...? Should you what? Do, Dump or Marry?
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do, wait until you feel better.
p.s. your goggle reader now has 138 posts. hee hee. sorry.
oh jeez. I spelled it goggle. I really, like REALLY am on drugs tonight...
ReplyDelete@Jo - I make jokes about killing the cats all the time. It makes me feel bad.
ReplyDelete@Ms. Moon - That's terrible. If I had dogs, I think that would tip me over the edge.
@geeksinrome - Hihi - he's dead, so I'm definitely not doing him. Or I'd have to feel an awful lot better.
You're funny when you're sick. I do hope you feel better soon though.
ReplyDeletestieg larsson- I had high hopes, i really did. i am flying against all known reviews or blogger opinions,but...
ReplyDeleteyeah, its a good ish read...but i wonder if it didnt lose something in the translation (how fickle of me to blame the translator, when i'm one)
it just wasnt..as brilliant...as i was led to believe. sorry. i also despise Da Vinci Code too if only because he earnt megabillions from something badly written and cliche ridden, but hey, all power to him for actually writing something, which is more than Ive ever done.
i never got into harry potter either, but i did frequent The Elephant Tea House in Edinburgh about the same time as she would have been there writing it, and i think any single mum who gets up early to do that deserves mega brownie points.
They always told me having children made you appreciate the small things in life - strange they never went on to say that "the small things" meant enjoying being in a Feu Vert/Midas waiting room.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your choir practice!
Oh darn! Why must you ruin my day with such news?! Just kidding! I hate cats too, and all pets really, but don't tell my kids. In fact, I'd rather have another baby than deal with a kitten or puppy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think The Da Vinci Code is rubbish. I like Harry Potter though. So there.
I hated the Stieg Larsson books. I tried desperately to get through them. Da Vinci Code was ok but not great. Harry Potter is fading for me.
ReplyDeleteTry K.E. Mills. The Rogue Agent series. I just read the first two and am waiting for the third to get to my library. I loved them.
That's OK, I hate our goldfish. None of us can remember his name and he's so needy - he always comes over to me when I'm near his tank - it's too much! It's good to confess.
ReplyDeleteI do love HP but I respect your right not to, however, I hated the DaVinci code and always will. I kind of hate my dog right now, who I used to love dearly but I am right at this moment considering smacking her for that obsessive licking which is seriously damaging my calm. Seriously. Get well.
ReplyDeleteHp sucks. nothing new nothing original nothing exciting. The da vinci code meh was barely readable, angel and demons was much better though the lost symbol was rubbish!! i much prefer the works of tolkien (i admit it i am a lord of the rings freak) anne rice and dean koontz, though even his books are becoming "samey"
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is ok-ish but da vinci code?! Bleh!!! I love my cat, but then he hates dirt and rarely goes outside so perhaps thats why he is easier to love!
ReplyDelete@Steph - So do I. I have to be better for tonight! Better get the kettle on.
ReplyDelete@screamish - I had been wondering if I should get it in English or Dutch. Crucial thing.
@Pueblo girl - Yet I did love it. :-) I'm hoping I'll feel good enough to go tonight. If I'm still spluttering all over the place, I'd better not go and infect the rest of the choir just before our concert.
@Angie Muresan - You are allowed your opinion. :-)
@Mad Woman - Hated - well, now there's a clear judgement.
@Calif Lorna - Not sure if we were blog friends yet then, but do you remember our cancer fish? http://mwaonline.blogspot.com/2009/08/cancer-fish.html His tumours have grown since, but he's still happily swimming around. Paradoxically, that is the only pet I like. The other two fish I'm indifferent to.
@GingerB - A licking dog. I may have nightmares tonight.
@Irishangell - I read a Dean Koontz once, and was absolutely mesmerised. He sure knows how to tell a story. I suppose it can't get samey if you only read one. :-) And some of my best friends are Tolkien lovers, so that's okay. I got half-way through the second book, but I think I was too young then, and it was translated into Dutch. I'm thinking I may give it another go if I have some time on my hands. Maybe when I'm retired. :-)
@Michelloui - I used to love my cats, so I do remember the feeling...
I love secrets! I never read the DaVinci code and I never will. I hate it for the imbecilic fervor it caused. I do like Harry Potter, but I love you for hating it. Go against the grain! Be your own woman! I hate Nicholas Sparks. What a pussy.
ReplyDeleteEhhh I'm not a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks, the Davinci club, Twilight, or Harry Potter. And I hate Christmas too.
ReplyDeleteThink I already knew that about your cats Mwa. As long as you don't do anything horrible to them, I can keep reading.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for admitting the Harry Potter thing. I can understand The Davinci Code, but not really HP. But it doesn't make me think less of you.
I went to get my oil changed and was planning on taking a nice long walk in between and the guy told me he'd be done in 15 minutes and I almost slapped him. He was so confused. So I know just what you mean.
Sorry M is sick.
Love your lists.
Hooray. I hate Harry Potter too. And people who read him and like him. Oh, god. Now no one will ever like me ever again.
ReplyDeleteI hate harry pooter and DVC..i m just about to try stieg larsson because i saw his first movie last week and it was pretty good..so i imagine the book is even better...
ReplyDeletei have a cat..she lives with my aunt and uncle..because i live with my WHITE sofa....
Comment directed to May: Nicholas Spark sucks! Would never read anything of his or watch any of the movies! I can think of better ways to get that feel good feeling.
ReplyDeletedirt phobia that extends to all pets...you crack me up!! no worries i had lots of pets growing up and they were all dirty. i'm with you on that. but that didn't stop my gma from giving mouth to mouth to a hamster. ewwwwww!!
ReplyDeleteps i love you even more knowing about your dark and dirty secrets.
