Only Monday

  • Oh my word. I can't believe this is Only Monday. Wartboy is lying on the sofa, talking to me, and I just can't make out what he's saying. It's probably because he is randomly saying whatever comes into his head, and is like a waterfall of random trivia, but also I'm just exhausted! I should be feeling like this on a Friday after a week of - at least - redecorating the house and giving birth. But no. It's Monday, I packed the kids off to school and the creche and slept for THREE hours this afternoon, and then I woke up with a headache and now I feel like the ghost of Cruella De Vil has descended on me. And all I can think is "It's Only Monday."
  • Yesterday, some guy ran his car into Babes' car. Of course, I was driving it. These things never happen when Babes is driving. The car had only a scratch, the people were all fine, and it was completely the other guy's fault, but I was a bit shaken. Luckily my lovely and very helpful cousin was around (it was in the parking lot of the place I was going) and he filled in the papers for us. The guy kept asking us if we knew who he was. Apparently we should have done. His son as well - he's on TV. People like that freak me out. But it also amuses me that we didn't know him, and his son only vaguely.
  • I'm now going to lie on the sofa and watch Grey's Anatomy. I have two episodes taped, which should take me through to bedtime. Better warn Babes that there will be crying. It's like kryptonite for pregnant women.
  • Or I might just play Wordscraper on Facebook. Dammit.

  2. Your car got hit by a famous celebrity? Or possible only a very minor celebrity by the sounds of things. Glad no-one was hurt. I often have one of those 'Is it only Monday?' xx

  3. @Jo - Oh, don't start if you haven't! Too too dangerous.
I would so friend you on Facebook - obviously - but I religiously keep my blog life away from people I actually know over here. I'm just not ready to be out. So my Facebook will stay family and friends for a while. I freaked out when Google did that Buzz thing without asking! I wanted to go and strangle them.
    It's the anonymous thing.

  4. @rosiescribble - More like the father of a very minor expert who's sometimes on the news.

  5. Ah yes. I'm the same? my facebook is friends and family too... more or less. so wouldn't I just be a friend? There wouldn't be a link.

Still. I know where you're coming from, as I frequent there too, more or less. Sometimes I'm too lazy to be vigilant though. Lulled into a false sense of security.

  6. I just love it when you talk about creche because I have no idea what it is, but I feel cool anyway. Also, my brother is an assistant editor for Grey's, so I'm famous.

  9. I used to have SUCH headaches at the midpoint in pregnancy- doubling blood volume will do that to a human.
I hope your evening goes as planned and that those tears are helpful in relieving...whatever.

  10. Well I'm half way through Tuesday right now, so I can tell you it's starting to look up. As I went through everyone's Facebook updates yesterday, it looked like Monday sucked for a LOT of people. Me included. So here's to a better week! :)

  12. I think you are sending me prego vibes online. i slept most of today away too and almost missed getting Nathaniel at school today :o Made it by 2 minutes. "Napped" for 4 hours if you can call it that after packing the other 2 off to the day home so I could go back to bed for a few more hours until I had to take Leigha to her monthly round of hospital appointments. I'm a horrid mother. Let's hope this week passes fast.

  14. Sleep!! sleep! don't resist...you need it.

Hm. Was this a Belgian celebrity or a French one? Do tell.

What was the Google Buzz thing?

  15. @Suzy Voices - Creche is daycare. Less cool now?
Tell your brother to stop killing off little children. Too sad. But also tell him thank you forever for the McDreamy-McSteamy combo. They keep me warm at night. (I wish.)

@Pueblo Girl - True, and so far it's a good Tuesday.

@Brit in Bosnia - We are now!

@Ms. Moon - I didn't cry. I switched the sound off for the sad bits and played them at double speed.

@Mad Woman - Tuesday is better indeed!

@Loopy Lu - That was Cruella De Vil talking, not me.

@Meghan - If you're a horrid mother, so am I. Perhaps it's more healthy to look at it this way: we take care of ourselves a little, too. Only benefits the kids in the end, you know.

@A Modern Mother - Very cute. But after an hour or so also very exhausting.

    @screamish - A Belgian non-celebrity. Otherwise it wouldn't have been so sad.
The Google Buzz thing was when Google cunningly decided to make themselves into a kind of Facebook without telling any of their users in advance. My blogging and family people could (in theory) all come and see who were the people I emailed. I'm not sure if it was all automatic, but when I checked my cousin and a blogger were both on there. I've tried to switch it off now. I'm still in the closet.

  16. I'm so sorry to hear that. I got into accidents too when I was pregnant. None of which were my fault, but still. Hope today was better.
