- mothers who ignore their children mama mama mama mama MAMA until they are shouting MAMA at the top of their voices, then give them precisely what they want. Somehow it does not surprise me that the child then repeats this process EVERY bloody time she wants something.
- hospital staff who show no sign that they have understood that the person they are treating is actually a human being. Presumably a scared and worried human being who is not feeling too hot right now. Also a human being who may have some insight into what is wrong with her, and what may be done to fix her. Not a machine that can be tinkered with and doesn't have anything to say for itself.

The top one offends me the most. well. I don't know, your sore throat offends me, too. So I hope you feel better soon, so that you won't be so, um, offensive. To me.

I think I may be one of those mothers in section one. not yet, exactly, but I can see it coming. perhaps it's an incompetent twin mother thing.
ReplyDeleteHospital staff- they need to do be slightly brisk or they go mad, I think. Still, i did meet a couple of midwives I wanted to stick with dessert forks...how amazing that some people can spend their whole careers dealing with people in sensitive emotional states yet stay completely immune to their needs. a pox on them and the horses they rode in on.

Oh, sore throat. That's the worst of all. I'll have my constant cough anytime rather than one day of tonsillitis. Hope you'll get better soon!

@screamish - I would go completely insane if I had to raise twins. Don't be too harsh on yourself.
@cartside - But a cough is annoying too. And we can't even drug ourselves! (Not that I do even when I'm not pregnant. I'm more of a sit-it-out kind of person.)
@Jo - I am. The hospital thing was my sister and mother. Just bugged the hell out of me. Especially because we've dealt with years of this kind of crap.
@Pueblo girl - Actually, the day was fine. And it helps to rant. I did take my sore throat to the park and sat in the sun while the kids had a great time playing. Could have been much much worse.
@Tanya - I do tea with orange juice - also soothes nicely. I don't think we even have any honey in the house.

@Ms. Moon - Fine. Just a stupid cold. My voice keeps going. The hospital wasn't me, it just irked me.
@Lady Mama - They are also bastards and they offend me. Someone did that to me this morning.
@Calif Lorna - I just don't get it. Especially when they bring in treatments and start doing icky stuff without any warning. No one should be touching anyone or their holes without proper warning and explanation.
