The heat, the longing

One of our Flemish channels is kindly rerunning Will & Grace this summer. I'm taping it every day and then using the episodes when I most need them. They are wonderful. All the risqué jokes pass right by the children, so I can have it on while they are playing in the room. Marie laughs along with the canned laughter, pretending to understand the jokes. I watched the pilot and the second episode today. (Will had a serious haircut between the two.)

The only problem with this series is that it replaces my despair with a strange kind of longing. I love love love Will. I want him. I keep having to tell myself this is fiction. No one can be that good-looking, funny and so damn loving to his best friend in real life. The heat, the pregnancy and the longing together make for a strange mix.

My TV recorder's hard drive is filling up rapidly with the episodes (damn husband insists on taping his own stuff as well) so I will have to delete some soon, but I just can't. It feels like killing Will, like killing the fantasy of the perfect best friend. Not to mention Karen, who I don't want as a best friend but love anyway.

I want Will in my paddling pool tomorrow. I'm sure he'd criticise my choice of bikini, but he'd rub my feet while doing it. Ah, that thought may just get me through the "still uncomfortably hot" night (the met office's words, not mine).

36 degrees tomorrow.

  1. crap and there's me complaining about the heat here 36 degrees is really too much now isn;t it...whatever you do - don't wiki Will (Eric Mccormack) though because he has aged a bit (and not in a kind way!)

  2. You poor, pregnant, hot lady. Horrible!

    I think it's hormonal though. He's cute, but he's not that cute. Wouldn't the endless bitching and nasal voice get you down? And you'd have to put up with Jack.

    Still and all, this sounds like a Box Set Solution Situation to me. EeeeBaaayyyy....

  3. @BNM - Oh, now I don't think I'll be able to restrain myself.

    @Jo - Ah, but I started to tape them over a week ago. I've got enough to keep me going.
    And no, I don't think I'd get fed up with him. Also, since this is my fantasy, Jack only gets to visit once a month.

  6. Re Wikki - I think he looks fine! Just his over stubbliness makes him look a wee bit grizzled. Hair still great though, and he's still youthful.

  7. Enjoy your heat-fuelled fantasy. If most pregnancies are anything to go by, you'll probably be lusting after Grace and pork scratchings by the middle of next week.

  8. Ah, pregnancy will do that to you.

    I'd KEEP your episodes, if you can - I still regret deleting that last episode of Ugly Betty....

  9. We used to love Will and Grace! He was quite a role model for me, apart from the having sex with men bit. And the tidiness. And...Actually, Grace was probably much more of a personal role-model, come to think of it.

  10. @Danielle - I can see how Will will do that.

    @Countess - Mmmm. Yeah.

    @Jo - Not so bad at all. Just not his best camera face.

    @Hot Cross Mum - I've been through the salami phase already. I don't really know what pork scratchings are. Is that a serious lack in my life?

    @nappy valley girl - I have that with the sexy one of House. But there's only so much space on the disk...

    @dadwhowrites - :-)

  11. At least you watch what you record. By the time I get to it, I'm so tired I fall asleep.

  12. There's about a year and a half where I missed out on films - I say, we never saw that - and my husband infomed me we did, I just fell asleep during the opening credits.

  13. @Angie - Yes, I do! But I don't record much. And when it's been on there for a couple of weeks and I haven't watched it, I'm ruthless about deleting.

    @Jo - :-) I wish I could do that more. TV keeps me awake. Even though yesterday I had a very good George Gently-long nap.

  14. found you via Met Mum. I agree I caught lots of Will and Grace while on holiday in the USA (terrible jet lag and very late night repeats!) and had forgotten just how good it was- and quite risque for an American show too
