Life on hold, HERO, baby progress, message to my boil

  • Ah the new baby - I forgot that it's three full time jobs in one. And then there's the two other children. I will, shall - oh yes - get back to the internet soon. I'm only getting five minutes now thanks to a visiting sister-in-law who is kindly burping the baby.
  • At least Babes is still at home being my HERO. HERO, I tell you. And a HERO with six weeks off. How cool is that? (Yay for living in socialist Europe where the capitalist swine is kept reasonably at bay still.)
  • A week in new baby time seems forever. I must remember that. Just when it seems like my life will forever be a cycle of feed - burp - adore - fuss - vomit - sleep - cramp - cry - poo - comfort - adore - walk - lullaby - sleep - adore - fuss - feed, Charlie spends five minutes pushing himself up on my chest, staring at my face, giving me smiles and just generally melting me. After which he returns to the usual fuss - cramp - cry - feed - ...
  • Oh, and I have a message for the massive spot that is growing in my recently vacated stretchmark: piss off already. The joke has worn off.

  2. Treasure this time, it will go so quick. My hero was only home when the baby was born because he'd broken his collarbone. He was more trouble then the baby.

  3. Congrats. (Just catching up.) Isn't it amazing how much time a brand new baby takes up? I remember with number three being amazed that I still wasn't dressed at 3pm sometimes.

  4. Hurrah for socialist Europe. Here, you get 6 weeks maternity leave. I'm not sure what you get for paternity leave. Probably a couple of hours or so.

Glad you're enjoying the new one. They're so scrumptious, aren't they?

  5. @Ms. Moon - I know. I feel for you capitalist swine over there. :-) He gets two full weeks paternity leave, and has enough holidays to do the rest. I'm loving it. Especially because he's supremely housetrained.

@Countess - I know it goes so quickly and am hyperaware. Melancholy feeling.

@Expat mum - It is amazing. I think I got dressed by one today! Soon, though, I will have to get three children organised by eight in the morning, and two of them to two different schools by eight thirty, with the baby in tow. That will be fun!

@Iota - 6 weeks? Bloody hell! And I thought our three months were bad. Paternity leave has been upped to ten days, which is not bad apparently, compared to many countries.
And, yes, he is very very scrumptious.

  6. Our maternity leave has gone up to 6 months. That's a lot better. It went from 3 to 4 then 6. PAternity leave stil only a couple days though.

Why are you getting dressed at all yet!? Two weeks in jammies I say. It's not two weeks yet is it?

So happy you're loving your babymoon :)

  7. @Jo - 6 months is better indeed. A couple of days is just crap. I was in hospital for four!

It was two weeks the day before yesterday, Jo. Time flies. I am loving the babymoon. Just very very tired. But I shouldn't complain, because Babes is letting me sleep a lot.

I've been getting dressed because I wanted to feel FABULOUS. IT helps that my body is cooperating - a third baby is not as traumatic it seems as a first.

  9. Wonderful baby times, ooh and little smiles, aww how precious. My third got pushed from pillar to post with two older siblings, luckily she was a happy baby. Wow 6 weeks and house trained, you have indeed a hero there. And yes I also got dressed to feel normal, not sure about fab tho' that was a few years later, you know after the vommits and dirty hands etc.
Have a wonderful day, hugs Sandi xx

  10. I am planning on not leaving the bedroom for the first week... on my first I made the mistake to think I should be doing laundry and cooking dinners while going through BF hell... this time I'm going to let the house be a shambles and concentrate on latch and sleep!
    enjoy the babymoon!

  11. keep those PJs ON!! and kiss those cream puff cheeks of Charlie's for me. I loved the endless cycle of feed burp nap. That would so be my life if I could choose right now :)

and too late. those cappy swine have infiltrated in the form of subsidiary companies... *sigh* I had 6 weeks when my Italian friends all get 1 year.

  16. I just caught up on all of your post-baby posts and oh my... You are giving me such baby envy! Now I need to go find a new baby to snuggle. Maybe you could rent yours out? Baby Snuggles- $5 a minute! Or perhaps you could charge by the smell. I would pay a dollar to sniff a baby's head, for sure.
I'm so glad you're all doing well!
