The Coke Light is there just because girlfriends have complained I didn't have any in the house. I don't touch that poison. Unlike the gin, which is a poison I will happily ingest.
(Another thing that surprised me was how little alcohol some people had in their fridges.)

Now I'm wondering about those people with fridges full of fresh things: are they just excellent planners or do they throw out a lot of food? Maybe they aren't ladies of leasure like I am, walking my sleeping baby around the local shops every afternoon buying the ingredients for that evening's meal. (Even when I was working I would go to the shops after work most days because of my inability/unwillingness to plan. I'm sure I will do the same when I go back to work.)
I keep thinking I shouldn't post this (because it's dull) but then I have loved snooping in everyone's fridges. If you haven't joined in yet, do! (Because I'm nosy. Really really nosy. And I want to know about the fresh produce vs alcohol ratio in all your fridges.)
Oh, my........sorry Mwa.....no booze in my frig. Fresh fruit and veggies, leftovers (always eaten to the last crumb), thousands of bottles of various sauces, marinades and exotic seasonings, bread, pita bread, corn and wheat tortillas, butter, eggs and.....this'll make you hate me less....dozens of packs of batteries. (somewhere I heard they keep better chilled).
ReplyDeleteI hardly throw out a morsel ever. Even uneaten kitty food gets put out on the porch buffet at night for the wandering cats, possums and raccoons.
My only excuse is that I hate waste being a child of the Great Depression.....
@Lo - Welcome!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right of course. We try not to waste too much either - I'm getting good at buying only a little.
Our bread and fresh fruit are left out on the kitchen surface because they get eaten when we walk past all the time. I forget about things that are out of sight.
My booze is in the pantry. Only the beer stays cold. I'm not sure I want to do this one, but I'm glad you did :)
ReplyDeletethis is eerily interesting....i'm too embarrassed to put mine up, there's just not enough booze in there compared to how much i desire :-)
ReplyDeleteHeh heh, I just had to go look in my fridge before I commented.
ReplyDeleteWe have a bit of 'fresh' stuff. But lots and lots of forgotten leftovers festering in plastic containers. Scary. Also a liquifying lettuce (it is in a lettuce crisper, stupid invention).
I took a photo, so will try to post it up tonight, just for you ;)
I throw a lot out, no clear planning :(
ReplyDeleteShopping for the day makes more sense, but then I worry I spend more, as every time I go to the shop to buy two things, I forget them and spend fifty euro.
And no way would I ever put my fridge on my blog, the horrific shame...
...must go clean my fridge... or not.
Gin in the fridge???
ReplyDeleteIRN BRU too? where do you get that in Belgium? How amazing...and i particularly like the way you have both the maker and cure of hangover on the same shelf...
I often make twice as much rice as I need for a meal, planning on taking the rest to work for lunch in the following days. But then I forget and leave it at home, and end up eating expensive sandwiches. Then the rice gets rotten and I throw it out a week later. We also have a ton of 10% full condiments, like jelly jars, that have been there for years.
ReplyDeleteYou do not want to know what's in my refrigerator. We have the same kind of orange juice. Imagine that.
ReplyDeleteI have been tagged my Mommy Has A Headache - and I am dreading to put a post up, revealing how much of a boring old fart I really am. Yes, I admit it, I am a planner and a fresh food buyer/consumer/not-throwing-outer.
ReplyDeleteLike you I often forget about things that I don't see so we have our fruit in a basket on the kitchen table. We buy lots of veg that I know I can use for multiple meals, so if I change my mind about what we're eating, I don't have to go to the shops. This is all insurance against me having to go to the shops everyday. I quickly get sick of our supermarket, so one or two visits a week is enough.
ReplyDeleteFor all my attempts at organisation, I still have to throw out the odd furry turnip. :)
wow, what a big fridge.
ReplyDeleteThat seems fun! My frig is always empty. It seems small to what we have here in the states, but we seem to think we either have to do it BIG or not bother doing it at all. We drink the same kind of wine as you have. Do you have a freezer?
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to join in on this. Must clean the frig first though--is that cheating?
