When I booked a weekend away in Friesland with friends, I was fully expecting to be freezing for the whole time there. I did not expect a near-tropical holiday.
It was excellent. The children got to have their first proper beach experience - paddling around, building sandcastles, carrying buckets of water.
on the move
My baby crawls and likes to chew his daddy's boots. Sometimes he gets to munch them for a while before I catch him.
chipped
I need to tidy up my nails but can't decide which colour to go with. Maybe I'll just restore them as they are. The blue is more rock chick, the pink more princessy. I'm not telling anyone that the reason I paint my nails in the first place is that it stops me chewing the skin on the side of my fingers.
I have finally stopped breastfeeding. Well, I do sometimes find myself shoving a boob in Charlie's face when he's having trouble sleeping but there is no actual feeding going on, so I call that a proper end. I'm loving having my body back. I'm finally eating better, eating less (losing some of that baby weight), drinking more (and just about bloody time, too) so all is good. I can sleep on my front again without soaking the mattress.
Now I just need to clear out that messy nursery and move Charlie's cot in there so I don't wake up every time he snorts, coughs, moves, breathes, sleeps too quietly, tries to crawl out of the room, drops his dummy, looks for his dummy, or reinserts his dummy.
no sorry, not happy with the colour choice, can you give me another photo with lots more colour options. I'll join Charlie and chew a boot whilst I wait!
@Pueblo girl - It is very satisfying indeed. Every time I make myself bleed or get infected I make a solemn vow to quit. Now is one of these times.
@Steph - His head does smell perfect. I smell it many times a day, and kiss it. Cheers to drinking to you as well!
@Kelloggsville - That floor is going to get busy. You must explain to me the attraction of chewing a leather boot. Those are the only two colours of nail varnish I own. Feel free to suggest better ones.
Neatest chewed fingers I've ever seen. Charlie is so so cute, must be something extra tasty on the boots or it is the right consistancy for gums. Yay to sleeping on your belly again, good feeling. Enjoy. x Sandi
Painting your nails keeps you from chewing the side of your fingertips? Never stopped me. Which is why I don't paint them (the varnish kinda doesn't last...) One cute baba you've got! Crawling, blimey. We're still practising sitting here!
@sandiart - Ah, but that's because I've had that nail polish on there for ages.
@cartside - You'll blink and she'll be crawling, too.
@Ms. Moon - Yes. Now I just need to find a minute to sit down when I don't go online...
@PantsWithNames - Yes, he is on the move and it's interesting. I love that he's bigger and luckily he's not too fast yet, but the days of sitting down with a cup of tea just watching him are definitely over for a bit.
Wow, it hardly seems like any time at all since you had him. I think you should go with the blue - in my mind you are about 75% rock chick/ 22% princess/ 3% dog-baby training guru (and they wear bright red).
Mwa: i feel like we're sisters from another mister. Emotional fun fair is a huge compliment! Btw: people that bite on their nails are hypersensitive to the feeling of their nails. This is true for me. I only bite when i have a hangnail, rough edge, or broken one. W regards to quitting..be prepared to spend a bit of time each day smoothing, clipping, grooming etc. Cuticle oil may b of benefit for u. I dont usually like to give advice in these blogger rooms, but wth?
@Lady Mama - It is nice. I think I agree. Blue it is.
@fiona - I love that comment! Thank you. And you are right that I'm less princessy than dark blue.
@Thug in a Cocktail Dress - Ah I didn't realise it was possible not to be hypersensitive to the feeling. I can't see myself clipping and grooming consistently, so I may just have to get used to it then. Thanks for the advice. Welcome any time.
The only thing wrong with not nursing anymore is that nursing makes your baby's head smell that good, and therefore it is also what keeps his poo from smelling vile. Formula (and actual food) make poo even more an unappealing feature of infancy. I miss the simple breastfeeding goo poo. Sorry about that segue but I know how you love poop talk.
Charlie is SO adorable even though I can only see his back. It's great to have your body back--I mean drinking is pretty hard to go without for so long!
I'm a teacher on a break until done procreating. Moved about the UK for a good few years, now back living in Belgium with Scottish man and three kids. The children speak Dutch to me and English to their father. Sometimes we get lost in translation.
I love me some comments, so feel free to let me know what you're thinking.

ReplyDeleteIt's all uphill from now (so I hear), until they hit the two's, then the three's, then arghhh, adolesence...
Sleep well, and dry.
What a perfect head he has. I want to smell it and kiss it.
ReplyDeleteAnd cheers to drinking!

Ah. Milestones. And a good nail color is a proper way to mark one.
ReplyDeleteHe's on the move?! How are you coping?! (gulp, I'd forgotten that babies start moving - help!)
