So I do play the piano, and I'm singing Mozart's Requiem in choir, and then there's friends and family - and, oh yes, three children and a husband. Them too. I've been away to practice my Mozart in the forest, and away to just relax with Babes in the hills. I've been doing it right, I think - putting the kids first, and then exercise and good cooking, and relaxing, and learning music, and yet I'm not managing the first thing - I'm not managing to breathe properly. Isn't that silly? I can do mental arithmetic and I can play the piano (with two hands!), I can juggle three kids and a busy social schedule, but I can't manage that very basic trick that most people seem to manage: to keep my breathing steady and under control.
I do wonder - it's not because I'm not writing? Is it?

I don't know, Mwa. Put little postit notes around. I think you can't concentrate on everything at once, but the turn of your writing will come.
ReplyDeleteAs I said in my post last night- to everything there is a season.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me as if you are doing it very, very well. Forget about the breathing and it will take care of itself.
Breathing is about getting oxygen all round your body. If you're still alive and your fingers and toes aren't black then tbh I think you're probably doing it properly already! So very well done you x
ReplyDeleteMost important to do this so you can keep doing that what you love....if you get what I mean.

Sometimes I find that I've been holding my breath for ages without noticing, usually when I'm at meetings at work.
ReplyDeleteBut the I'm a man and can't multi-task, so that's probably no help to you.
@tinman - I do that, too! But mainly I just tense my midriff and chest and breathe too shallowly. Nothing a bit of meditation won't fix. Now I just have to find the time for that...
ReplyDeletePretty sure it's because you're not writing! If you were writing, you could totally breathe better. ;)
